You might have heard of Frankincense as it’s been referenced in the Bible. In fact, Frankincense and Myrrh were both given to Jesus at the time of his birth. At the time, both were considered more valuable than gold.

Today, Frankincense used for meditation and to promote healthy skin.

What is Frankincense Essential Oil?

Frankincense is distilled from the resin of of the Frankincense tree. With Young Living, their Frankincense essential oil is distilled from boswellia carterii trees located in northern Africa near the Arabian peninsula.

Frankincense is available in a 15 ml size for topical and aromatic use, and as Frankincense Vitality in a 5 ml bottle for dietary and internal use. It’s the exact same oil blend in both bottles. The labels just indicate different uses to make it easier for you to know how to use them.

10 Uses for Frankincense Essential Oil

 

1. Help to brighten skin

Add about 10 drops of Frankincense essential oil to 1 oz of your favorite moisturizer (along with 5 drops of Lavender). It helps to improve the tone and texture of skin.

2. Make a DIY facial serum

Just add 3 drops Frankincense and 3 drops Lavender essential oils to 1 oz carrier oil (such as argan or rosehip) to make your own DIY facial serum.

3. Keep cuticles strong

Add a 1 drop of Frankincense to 4-5 drops of coconut oil or your favorite carrier oil and massage into the cuticles. This nail serum helps to keep nails strong.

4. Stay calm at the end of a long day

Add 1-2 drops of Frankincense essential oil to 1 tsp of carrier oil and massage neck and temples. It’s great to use at after a busy day.

5. Boost your mood

If you feel overwhelmed or out of sorts just apply 1-2 drops of Frankincense essential oil to your wrists and neck.

6. Support wellness

Add 3-4 drops Frankincense Vitality to a spoonful of raw honey or an empty vegetable capsule and take internally as a dietary supplement. It helps to support overall wellness.

7. Promote relaxation

Unwind by adding a 5 drops of Frankincense essential oil to a cup of Epsom salts along with 1 tsp almond oil. It helps to promote relaxation after a long day.

8. Boost your toothpaste

Many natural toothpaste brands contain Frankincense or Myrrh (a cousin to Frankincense in the botanical world). Power boost your toothpaste by adding a drop of Frankincense Vitality to your toothbrush, add your favorite natural toothpaste and brush teeth as normal.

9. Diffuse during yoga practice

The next time you practice yoga (or any stretching exercises at home), diffuse 6-10 drops of Frankincense. It helps to uplift your spirit, while making you feel grounded in the moment.

10. Stay grounded during meditation or spiritual time

Diffuse 5 drops Lavender and 5 drops Myrrh during meditation to stay grounded and feel a sense of purpose.
